지금까지 우리 교회는 외부의 어려운 신학생과 유학생을 돕는 일을 해 왔습니다. 작년 같은 경우에는 지정 헌금을 통해서 미주에 있는 어려운 두 개의 교회를 지원하였습니다. 이렇게 외부의 어려운 학생과 교회를 돕듯이 우리 교회내의 자녀들도 지원하여 하나님 나라를 향한 꿈과 비전을 세워줘야겠다는 마음에 작년 가을 즈음 미라클 파운데이션을 만들고 운영하게 되었습니다. 이제 그 시작으로  미라클 Foundation 을 통해 저희 교회 학생들에게 장학금을 제공하려고 합니다.

     솔직히 큰 금액의 장학금이라기보다는 자녀를 격려하는 차원에서의 보조금이라고 보시면 되겠습니다. 우리 교회를 다니고 있는 학생들 가운데 고등학교를 졸업하면서 대학에 입학하는 자녀들은 인원에 제한 없이 신청하는 학생들에게 $500의 장학금을 제공합니다. 그리고 현재 우리 교회 교인으로서 대학교나 대학원에서 공부하고 있는 학생들은 신청자 중 한 명을 선정해서 $1000의 장학금을 제공할 것입니다.

     신청하는 방법은 안내되는 링크에 기본 정보를 입력하고 1-2페이지에 에세이를 써서 제출하면 됩니다. 에세이의 내용은 미라클랜드 교회를 통해서 받은 하나님의 은혜와 감사의 내용, 그리고 앞으로 어떤 비전을 품고 공부하려고 하는지에 대한 글이면 됩니다.

     새롭게 시작하는 사역이다 보니 왜 그렇게 금액을 정했는지, 인원수는 왜 그렇게 정했는지, 선출 기준을 어떻게 되는지 등등의 각기 다른 견해들이 있을 수 있습니다. 이런 마음도 처음 시작하는 사역에 대한 관심의 표현일 것입니다. 하지만, 이런 표현이 자칫하면 트집 잡는 식으로 전해질 수 있고, 그렇게 될 때 사역을 통한 축복과 은혜를 놓쳐버리게 됩니다.

     저희 미라클랜드에서 이런 자녀를 위한 사역을 시작할 수 있게 된 것은 참 귀하고 감사한 일입니다. 작은 시작이지만, 이것이 우리 자녀들이 하나님의 미라클로 자라나는데 밑거름이 되어, 우리의 생각과 기대를 뛰어넘는 하나님의 놀라운 축복이 자녀들에게 임하게 될 것입니다. 이것을 위해, 함께 기도해 주시고 격려해 주시기를 바랍니다.

Taking Scholarship Applications for The Miracle Foundation

     Up to now, our church has been doing the work of helping seminarians and students from abroad.  In last year’s case, we helped two churches in the United States through our designated offering.  As such, the Miracle Foundation was established with the heart that we ought to help students and churches going through difficulty, in order to cultivate and raise in them dreams and visions towards the Kingdom of God.  With that beginning, now we want to provide our church students scholarships through the Miracle Foundation.

     Rather than a large sum scholarship you may call it more frankly, a small support fund that could be of encouragement.  Any students that attend our church, who are graduating from high school and entering into college who apply, will be provided a $500 scholarship.  And from students currently studying at a university or graduate school, from among the applicants one will be selected to receive a scholarship of $1000.

     The way to apply is to fill out the information on the online application form through the link provided and complete a one to two page essay.  The topic of the essay is:  How God has blessed the student through the church and how he or she is grateful, followed by his or her vision for the future and plan for studies.

     Since it is a new ministry venture, there may be differing views on why the amount was set this way, and why the number of people or the selection criteria was set that way.  This is reflective of a heart that expresses interest in the ministry.  These expressions however, run the risk of being passed on in a critical way, which in turn can rob of any blessings and grace through the ministry.

     It is a precious and grateful thing to be able to start a ministry of this kind for the sons and daughters at MircleLand.  Although it is a small beginning, this will serve as a foundation for our children to grow up as God’s miracles, and God’s amazing blessings that exceed our thoughts and expectations will be bestowed unto our children.
