전 교인 대 심방을 시작합니다.

가정 교회에서는 교인들의 심방을 목자들이 합니다. 그 이유는 크게 두 가지 입니다.

첫 번째는 목자들로 하여금 목양을 하게 하기 위함입니다. 담임목사가 모든 성도들을 직접 목양하게 되면 목자들은 목양에서 책임과 권위를 잃게 됩니다. 성도들이 목자를 의지하고 배우면서 신앙을 키워가기 보다는 목사에게만 의지하고 목자는 무시하게 될 수가 있습니다. 가정교회는 “평신도 사역자를 세우는 교회"라는 표어를 내 걸고 있습니다. 이는 모든 성도들이 그리스도를 “바라보는 자"가 아니라 “본받는 자"가 되어야 한다는 의미입니다. 평신도가 목자로 세워지고 목원들을 위해서 기도하면서 목양을 하고, 목장식구는 그 목자의 모습을 보고 배우면서 성장해 가는 것이 제자가 되는 가장 좋은 길이기 때문입니다. 

두 번째 이유는 성경말씀에 나온대로 목사가 말씀사역과 기도 사역에 집중할 수 있도록 하기 위함입니다. 심방은 많은 시간과 에너지를 요구합니다. 목사가 심방을 많이 다닐수록 성도와는 친해질 수 있을지 모르지만 설교를 준비하고 기도에 할애해야하는 절대적인 시간과 에너지가 부족하게 됩니다.

하지만, 그럼에도 불구하고 9월부터 전교인 대 심방을 시작 하려고 합니다. 그 이유도 크게 두 가지 입니다.

첫 번째는 여러분을 알고 싶어서 입니다. 제가 이곳에 담임목사로 부임한 것이 벌써 2년이 되어갑니다. 저와 성도님들이 이제는 서로 적응이 되어가고 있지만, 담임목사와 성도간의 깊은 친밀한 관계는 아직 만들어지지 않은 것 같습니다. 제가 성도님들의 상황과 형편을 잘 모르니 기도할 때 구체적인 기도를 드리기가 쉽지 않고, 때로는 막연하고 추상적인 기도를 드리게 되는 경우가 있습니다. 믿음의 공동체인 교회에서 성도는 목사를, 그리고 목사는 성도를 깊이 알고, 서로의 필요와 상황을 알고 공유하며 관계를 맺어야 할 책임이 있습니다. 그래야 믿음안에서 성도의 교제인 코이노니아가 일어날 수 있기 때문입니다. 이렇게 서로를 알아가는데는 시간과 노력이 있어야합니다. 시간을 투자해야 하고 쑥쓰러움과 어색함을 극복하려는 노력이 필요합니다. 이번 대 심방을 통해서 얼굴과 이름만 알았던 관계가 친밀감이 깊어지는 관계로 발전하여 성도님들에 대해 구체적으로 기도하게 되고,  목사와 성도가 진정한 코이노니아를 시작하는 기회가 되기를 바랍니다. 

두 번째 이유는 시기적으로 지금이 가장 적당한 때라고 생각해서 입니다. 하나님의 은혜로 우리 교회가 부흥하게 되어 성도님들이 늘어나게 되면 앞으로 제가 전교인을 심방하기는 어려워질 것입니다. 부흥이 되고 안되고는 하나님이 하시는 것이지만 전 교인들을 심방하고 기도해 드릴 수 있고, 또 그래야 하는 시기가  바로 지금이라는 마음이 들어서 입니다.

이번 주 오래간만에 다시 미라클 칼럼을 통해서  전 교인 심방을 하는 이유와 저의 생각을 나누어 드렸습니다.  다음 주 미라클 칼럼에서는 심방을 어떻게 할 것인지, 방법에 대해서 안내해드리도록 하겠습니다. 같이 기대하며 기도해주십시오.

The churchwide member visitation begins.

In the House Church, the shepherds visit his or her own members.  There are two big reasons for this.  First, this is so that we can minister through the shepherds.  If the senior pastor ministers each member directly, the shepherds of the House Church may lose their authority and responsibility.  Rather than to have the saints learn from and depend on their shepherds, they can grow dependent on the pastor, while disregarding their shepherds.  The House church holds out the slogan, “Church that raises lay ministers.”  This means that every saint is to be one who “models after” Christ rather than who “spectates on” Christ.  It is because the best way to disciple is, to have a shepherd raised from the laity, praying and pastoring for his or her members, while they grow by modeling after that shepherd.  Visitation requires a lot of time and energy.  While it is possible for the pastor to grow closer with his saints as much as he visits them, he will also be absolutely lacking in the time and the energy required for preparation for the message and prayer.

Be that as it may, I plan on starting the churchwide visitation of all members starting in September.  There are two big reasons for this also.  First, it is because I want to get to know you.  It is already approaching two years, since I have been installed as the senior pastor of this place.  While you and I are adjusting to one another, I don’t think that a deep relationship has yet been fostered between the senior pastor and the members.  Since I don’t know all your situations and conditions, it is difficult to pray for specific things, and there are many times when my prayers for you remain very general and abstract.  In the church as a community of faith, is the shared responsibility between the pastor and his flock to share and know one another’s circumstances and needs. It is only then, when KOINONIA can occur, which is fellowship among believers.  To get to know one another this way requires time and effort.  We have to invest time and need to overcome our awkward shyness.  Through this churchwide visitation, I wish for my relationship with you to develop much further than just to know your names and faces, but to be able to pray for you specifically in depth of intimacy in the KOINONIA between pastor and his flock.  The second reason is because I think that as far as timing goes, this is the best time.  If by the grace of God our church has a revival and a growth in membership comes our way, it will become difficult for me to do a church-wide visitation.  Whether we grow like that or not is up to God but I can visit you all and pray for you, and think that the time when I must do that is now. 

It has been a while since I have returned to the Miracle Column, and I thought I’d share my heart, why I will be doing the church-wide visitation.  In the Miracle Column next week, I will direct your attention to the procedures of how the visitations will take place.  As we eagerly await together, let us pray together.
