이번 삶 공부는 기존에 진행되던 것과는 다르게  특별한 내용으로 진행을 하게 되었기에 이에 대한 안내를 해드립니다.

   몇 개월 전, 저와 신학교에서 함께 공부한 선배님이신 조의완 교수님을 만났습니다. 그 자리에서 그 분의 저서와 내용에 대한 이야기를 나눌 기회가 있었는데. 그것이  지금 시대에, 저희 성도님들에게  너무나 필요한 메세지였습니다. 그래서, 저희 교회에 선포되어질 수 있는 여러 방법을 물색하다가 삶 공부를 통해 깊이 있게 배워보기로 결정하게 되었고, 감사하게 조의완 교수님께서 7주간의 귀한 시간을 헌신해 주시기로 하였습니다.

   강사님은 오랜 시간 신학교에서 학생들을 가르치셨고 현재 Fuller Theological Seminary에서 교수로 재직하고 계십니다. 뿐만 아니라  담임목회자로 교회를 섬기기도 하셨습니다. 신학자이면서 목사로서 다양한 연구와 목회의 경험을 통해 현대를 사는 그리스도인들에게 신앙의 훈련을 통한 올바른 영성을 심어줄 수 있는 탁월한 분이십니다. 

   이번 삶 공부 주제는  “I Church 시대의 7가지 치명적 죄악”입니다.

창세기 4장 7절  “죄가 너의 문에 도사리고 앉아서, 너를 지배하려고 한다. 그러나 너는 그 죄를 잘 다스려야 한다.”라는 말씀처럼 우리는 지금도 매일 죄와 전투 중입니다. 그런데 사탄은 현대인들이 사용하기를 꺼려하는 “죄”라는 용어 대신 “실수” 혹은 “실패”라는 단어로 우리를 포장하여 우리 안의 “죄”를 무시하며 살아가게 합니다. 그 결과 열심은 늘 있고, 꾸준히 배우는 것은 많은데도 그 마음과 생각은 좀처럼 변하지 않습니다. 이번 삶 공부는 우리 죄의 뿌리를 알고 내면의 죄악된 습관들과 생각의 뿌리를 뽑아 생각, 태도, 삶의 방식 등 모든 영역에서 죄악과 맞서는 삶을 살 수 있게 해 줄 것이라 믿습니다.  .

   I church는, 매일의 삶에서 죄에 대한 분투를 등한시하는 대신, 오늘 새로 나온 기독교 신상품을 찾느라 정신이 없는, 종교적 소비자로 전락한 그리스도인을 일컫는다고 책은 말하고 있습니다.

교회가 위기에 처하고 성벽이 무너져 내린 것은 이렇게 자기가 원하는 것만 선택하는 소비주의적 성향을 가진 그리스도인이 늘어나기 때문입니다. 자신이 얻는 유익이 있을 때만 교회에 나오고 희생은 거부하는 모습이 바로 소비자 그리스도인의 모습입니다. 

    성숙한 그리스도인이라고 해서 늘 승리만 하는 것은 아닙니다. 성숙한 제자들은 늘 최선을 다해 노력하지만, 죄를 발견했을 때, 겸손한 마음으로 회개하고 하나님께로부터의 용서와 은혜를  체험하는 사람들입니다. 이번 삶 공부를 통해 죄나 악습 가운데 사는 것을 당연하게 생각하는 것이 아니라 이러한 성령의 용서와 은혜를 체험하여 죄와 악습에서 자유함을 누리게 될 것입니다. 그래서 성령 충만으로 살아가는 미라클랜드 교회가 되기를 간절히 기도합니다.

Let me tell you about the first Life Study of 2023.

    I am informing you about this life study because it will be conducted with special contents differently from previous ones.

    A few months ago, I met with professor Euiwan Cho, a classmate from seminary.  I had a chance to talk about the contents of his book and it was a message that was so necessary for our church members during this era.  So while searching for various ways to proclaim it in our church, we decided to provide learning through a deep Life Study and thankfully, Professor Cho agreed to devote seven weeks of his precious time to our church.

    He has taught students in seminaries for many years and is currently a faculty member at Fuller Theological Seminary.  As a theologian as well as pastor, he is an excellent person, who through various pastoral and research experiences can instill a correct spirituality through training of faith in Christian living in the modern age. The theme of this life study is “The Seven Deadly Sins of the iChurch Era.”

    As Genesis 4:7 states “Sin is crouching at the door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it,” we are still fighting sin every day.  However, instead of the term “sin” that modern people are reluctant to use, Satan masks us in the word “mistake” or “failure” to live by ignoring the “sin” within us.  As a result, there is always enthusiasm and there are many things to learn continuously but the hearts and minds do not change.  I believe that this study of life will help us to know the root of our sins, to root out our inner sinful habits and thoughts, and to live a life that confronts sin in all areas, including thoughts, attitudes, and ways of life. 

    The book “iChurch” states that Christians have become religious consumers who are looking for new Christian products that have come out today while neglecting the struggle against sin in our daily lives.  The reason why the church is in crisis and the walls have collapsed is because the number is increasing, of Christians with a consumerist tendency to choose what they want.  It is the feature of a consumer Christian who comes to church only when there is a benefit for him or herself and refuses to sacrifice.

    It is not to say that the mature Christian always wins.  Mature disciples always try their best, but when they discover sin, they repent with a humble heart and experience forgiveness and grace from God.  Through this life study, you will not take it for granted to live in sin or bad habits, but you will experience the forgiveness and grace of the Holy Spirit and enjoy freedom from sins and bad habits.  That is how I earnestly pray that Miracle Land Church will live, by being filled with the Holy Spirit.
